Current factual starting points

Harvest Right currently includes a Premier oil pump with home freeze dryers. Its product page lists oil replacement every 20–30 batches and says the service takes about two minutes. The same page lists the oil-free upgrade at $1,495 and says it requires no oil changes or regular user maintenance. These claims and prices were checked July 18, 2026; verify them before ordering.

What “break-even” means here

The model uses a long-run average number of oil services. It does not round up to force an extra annual service. If annual modeled materials and time are zero, it reports no financial break-even.

  • It does not assign a dollar value to noise, convenience, or personal preference.
  • It does not estimate resale value or future replacement-part prices.
  • It does not substitute for the current manual or manufacturer support.
  • Freeze Dryer Value has not conducted hands-on testing of either pump.

A long modeled break-even does not prove the upgrade is wrong. It means the upgrade needs a nonfinancial convenience or preference benefit to justify the difference under those assumptions.
